  • Though it doesn’t happen often, I was asked by a friend in the newspaper business for my take on a world event and how that fits into the prophecies of the Scripture regarding end times. His take was apparently based on an entirely different view regarding the end times than mine — a view which is rooted in dispensationalism and includes a secret rapture, a tribulation period and a millennial kingdom here in this world.

  • 1. Where do we look for help? Where was the city of Jerusalem located? What was in Jerusalem? Whose presence was sought in the temple at Jerusalem? (Remember that this psalm was used as the people ascended the hills of Judea to Mt. Zion and the site of the temple where Jehovah God served His people through sacrifices for forgiveness and with His holy Word.)

  • God lays much of the blame for the fact that His people of Israel had turned away and came under His judgments upon the shepherds who should have been feeding and nourishing God’s sheep with His Word.

  • God does not desire to condemn us to eternal death and suffering in hell. Rather, He desires that we repent of our sinful and rebellious ways and look to Him for mercy and forgiveness for the sake of Christ Jesus and His atoning sacrifice upon the cross for the sins of the world! God grant that we heed His voice!
